An Unforgettable Evening at Pyramid Lounge Cafe in AmbalaI study in City College Ambala and it was on the eve of our Graduation Night that we had the opportunity to visit this awesome place called Pyramid Café Lounge Bar. This glittering hotel lies just 0.7 km away from hub of the town or city center. I had always known about the Hotel Puran Palace as a top accommodation option for the elite class who chanced to visit Ambala.
It offers excellent luxury rooms, business center, restaurants, conference facilities and other amenities but the existence of the awesome café called Pyramid Café Lounge Bar was a surprise to me. I came to know about this place from a friend’s cousin who had happened to visit Ambala on work from Mumbai. He highly praised the services of the Puran Palace and specially recommended the Pyramid Café Lounge Bar for a fun evening of celebration. Last year my cousin sister got married and the groom’s party had put up in the Pyramid. I had gone along with my dad to confirm the bookings and was pleasantly surprised to see the rooms there. Awesomely comfortable, tastefully decorated and subtly emanating an aura of understated elegance; the rooms were affordably priced too. The Deluxe rooms were INR 1800 per night while the Super Deluxe Room came for INR 2500 per night.
The Business Class Rooms (we just peeked inside…did not book) came for INR 3000 per night and was superbly furnished with ultra luxurious amenities. The Hotel Facility of the Pyramid Café is called the Puran Palace and it has many useful facilities like a baby care crèche, private ATM machine, in house coffee café, personal car parking, private bar etc. I remember the grooms party being quite pleased with the service too.
Some of the guests had flown in from London and they got their currency exchanged at the hotel while some others used the business center (equipped with great communication facilities. There are other thoughtful value additions like special facilities for differently abled guests, free Wi Fi and a great multi-cuisine restaurant inside. In the evening we hand a grand party at the Hotel Puran Palace Nightclub which had good floor area and a pretty competent DJ. Post party we all ate out at the Shanghai Restaurant that is a part of the Pyramid Chain.
The most interesting thing about the restaurant was that the entire staff knew how to speak Chinese. The décor was all in red and glowing amber with hanging Chinese lanterns and designer walls. The giant Buddha bust centerpiece actually gave the place a distinctly international flavour. Loved the food there; it was quite different from the usual Chinese fare found in standard Indian restaurants.
Though I knew a lot about the Hotel Puran Palace and Restaurant Shanghai I had yet to check out the Atmosphere Sky Bar which was thee luxury Bar associated with this group. I was on the lookout for a place where we could have our private graduating night party; just a few close friends prior to the Formal Graduation ceremony organized by our college. We were a group of 10 people and I had called the Café Desk a day before i.e. on Friday to make the booking in the Pyramid Café Lounge Bar.
The first thing that blew my mind was the décor. The Café has an amazing décor scheme. The ceilings are richly paneled in dark wood and glittering head mask of a deer with antlers graced the wall. Rich Golden orb shaped lamps graced the ceiling and gave the whole place a fairy tale ambience. There was a 42 inch LED screen on the wall showing latest hit Bolly numbers and the seating area in front of the screen was studded with plush leather arm chairs. Right left to the screen was the best part of the Pyramid Café; the Lounge Bar.
The plush leather couches were generously overthrown with Egyptian style cushions. The cabinets were stocked with the best of liquor brands from Johnny Walker Black Label to Absolute Vodka to some pretty sophisticated French Wines. We of course were on a strict budget so we stuck to our staple bottle of Blenders Pride. Our drinks were served to us in exquisite cut glass whiskey glasses instead of the standard dull glasses supplied in other common bars of Ambala. The Chilly Chicken and Fish Chips we ordered with our drinks were excellent though the chicken was a bit too fiery for my taste.
Awesome numbers belted out from the impressive music system of the Café and I was really surprised to see that they had a good collection of Hard Rock music and believe me this is pretty difficult to get in Ambala. As the evening rolled on we reminisced about our college days, memories of our trips, plans for the future. Some of us got in the mood for dance and though the Pyramid Café did not have a formal dance floor, the management obliged us by removing a few chairs to clear the space. Time flew by quick and soon it was time for dinner. All of us voted to try the house specialties i.e. the Shrimp Salad, Broccoli Pesto and Linguini.
The Salad was a delightful concoction of baby shrimps, black olives, cucumber, red and yellow capsicum and delicious Feta cheese. The Pesto was delicious with crunchy Broccoli, sun dried Zucchini and a wonderful sauce (they did not part with the name). But what really stole the show was the Linguini which was filled with delicious cubed chicken, ham, eggs, spinach and Assorted Sea Food. We were too full for dessert so did not order any but resolved to come back one day to try out their cheese cake and chocolate brownie (both recommended by Chef).
Afterwards we even went to check out the Atmosphere Skybar which is newly done up in the themes reflecting the unity of universe and the beauty of space. What struck me most about the Pyramid Group was their attention to detail and the superior standards of service offered in all the sections; Pyramid Café and Lounge Bar, Hotel Puran Palace, Shanghai Restaurant and Atmosphere Skybar. This is truly the best place in Ambala for wholesome entertainment and fine experiential wining and dining. All in all it was a wonderful experience (though the bill was a little steep) and I am going to remember our Graduation night private party at Pyramid Café for a long time now.
